Overview & Highlights

Nestled in the charming town of Pinehurst, NC, 1895 Grille stands out as a beacon of refined fine dining that masterfully blends classic elegance with innovative culinary artistry. This exquisite restaurant invites guests to embark on a sophisticated gastronomic journey where every dish is thoughtfully crafted to delight the senses.

The cuisine at 1895 Grille offers an inspired American fine dining experience, elevating familiar flavors through impeccable technique and imaginative pairings. Start your meal with the refreshing 1895 Hearts of Romaine, featuring briny white anchovy fillets, heirloom tomato ceviche, and a perfectly toasted bakehouse shallot sourdough crouton that adds a satisfying crunch. Another standout appetizer is the Pear and Celery Salad, where the smokiness of yogurt and zing of ginger-lime vinaigrette harmonize beautifully with Marcona almonds and a subtle bitter chocolate crunch – a surprising yet delightful combination that teases your palate.

For small plates, the Scallops and Bacon offer an enticing balance of flavors, enriched by hoop cheese and ancho creamed corn alongside a pine nut fennel jam and crisp vanilla apple salad. The Jumbo Lump Crab Cake is equally impressive with its vibrant Aji Amarillo rémoulade and roasted shishito pepper relish, creating layers of sweet, spicy, and tangy notes that make each bite memorable. Meat lovers will find joy in the Smoked Pepper BBQ Short Ribs, served with creamy Adluh goat cheese grits and accented by a charred Shishito glaze with Korean Gochujang heat and tangy pickled root vegetables.

Among the entrees, the 8oz CenterCut Black Angus Filet of Beef stands as a signature dish; accompanied by lobster and applewood-smoked cheddar mac 'n cheese, butter-braised asparagus, petite heirloom carrots, and a luxuriously rich pinot noir demi sauce, it showcases the kitchen’s commitment to harmony and depth of flavor. The Roasted Center Cut Pork surprises with a pear butter mole, complemented by a hearty chicory, sweet potato, corn and asparagus hash, smoked blackberry reduction, and tender roasted mushrooms—an earthy, soulful dish that resonates long after the last bite. Don’t miss the Joyce Farms Fried Chicken, comfort food elevated with roasted sweet potato and goat cheese, offering a nostalgic yet elevated experience.

1895 Grille’s atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between upscale sophistication and a welcoming warmth that encourages relaxation. The historic setting, adorned with elegant architectural details and nostalgic photographs, evokes the charm of a grand old lodge, making each visit feel special and intimate. Easily one of best restaurants in the area. Service is classic and impeccable. Food is supremely gourmet, wonderfully high quality, beautiful, and plays with the taste buds in ways you may have never experienced or expected. Big kudos to chef Adam on the swordfish for preparing possibly one of the best fish dishes I’ve ever had, from someone who spent decades in expensive areas along the Florida coast.

Crazy amazing fancy restaurant!! My favorite place in the world honestly the service and atmosphere. If you get anything please try the lobster mac & cheese just WOW!!! Everything here is 10/10 every time my husband and I go

1895 Grilled Pinehurst is a truly special place—upscale but not stuffy. The food is creative, and special memories are made here in the heart of Pinehurst. This is an absolute must-visit on your trip. The braised short ribs stand out as one of my favorites. Be sure to save a night for dining at 1895.

Cool atmosphere, good food, and adequate service. The staff will recommend the chocolate soufflé right away; it’s an average dessert and overrated in my opinion. Gnocchi, steak, and sweet potato biscuits are delicious.

We loved this experience. Such a historic place to enjoy exceptional service and cuisine. We enjoyed the variety of cocktails and appetizers, salads and entrees, the desserts were pretty amazing, please make this a stop if you are in the area.

The dinner here is absolutely amazing. You are catered to with great care, and the staff is passionate about making sure you are happy and enjoying your meal. I had the lamb, and it was exquisite. Additionally, make sure to try the bread they bring you, it is all delicious.

What an amazing experience! We ended up in a private room and made the experience even better! Food was fantastic, drinks went down smooth and the homemade ice cream capped of the experience! Our server V was fabulous! Can't wait to go back!

Breakfast was included in our Bed & Breakfast package. Good spread and attentive service by Bunny. Our corner seat gives us a full view of the room, architecture and old photos on the wall. The photos alone make it worthwhile to visit. Felt like we were in an old lodge. Great to walk down from our room to a nice hot spread of breakfast items, a long with fruits, juices, yogurt & cereal. Good music selection for breakfast - upbeat at a pleasant volume.
